This Laguna Beach residence became a statement of coastal refinement after receiving the full Ancient Surfaces treatment. Each room tells its own story, shaped through centuries old limestone meticulously reclaimed and installed to harmonize with ocean views, natural light, and contemporary living. From outdoor terraces to intimate indoor spaces, the project showcases how authentic stonework can elevate an entire home.
The first space reveals a panoramic terrace overlooking the Pacific. Here, we installed our reclaimed Antique Kronos limestone pavers, selected for their soft beige and coral toned variations that complement the warm coastal sunsets. Their weathered surface texture enhances grip underfoot while adding the timeless charm of reclaimed Mediterranean stone. The glass railing magnifies the effect, allowing the stone floor to visually flow toward the ocean.
Stepping inside, the living area embraces the same horizon, but now framed by hand cut limestone wall cladding from our Antique Rough Face collection. Its rugged, old world texture contrasts beautifully with the polished wood cabinetry and contemporary furnishings. This stone was chosen for its ability to ground the room and replicate the look of classical European coastal villas while maintaining a relaxed California feel.
In the formal dining room, the Antique Kronos limestone returns as the primary flooring material. Here, the warm mix of creamy beige, honey, and muted taupe tones creates an inviting backdrop for evening gatherings. The stone’s irregular patterning adds subtle movement beneath the long dining table and is softened by the candlelit glow of the contemporary chandelier. Along the window wall, our lightly hand chiseled limestone blocks frame the openings, echoing the old world craftsmanship that defines this home.
The transition area near the staircase highlights the full versatility of Ancient Surfaces stonework. The flooring continues in Antique Kronos limestone, creating seamless continuity as you move through the home. The walls are clad in Antique Pavé limestone blocks, each hand selected for uniform patina and texture. Together, they create a balanced blend of rustic and contemporary stonework that feels centuries old yet perfectly suited to modern living. This contrast is amplified by the floating glass railing and wooden steps that cut across the stone backdrop.
In the kitchen, the flooring remains Antique Kronos limestone, chosen for its durability, coastal tone variation, and ability to pair effortlessly with modern cabinetry and stainless fixtures. Against the far wall, the limestone cladding becomes a subtle architectural anchor, framing the ocean view and the linear kitchen layout. The stone’s natural warmth softens the minimalist design, creating a refined yet approachable cooking environment.
