In this project, the marble sink became the heart of the kitchen, both functionally and aesthetically. Carved from a single block of the finest white marble, its apron-front design is a refined nod to old-world craftsmanship. The soft veining across its surface adds a natural elegance, while the hand-polished finish enhances its quiet luster without making it overly glossy. What sets this sink apart is not just its beauty, but its thickness and depth practical for everyday use, yet sculptural in presence.
At the heart of the kitchen lies the marble island; a bold, grounding centerpiece that immediately commands attention. We selected a generously thick slab of pristine marble with delicate gray veining that feels both light and substantial. Its honed finish offers a velvety, non-glossy touch, inviting the hand to linger on its surface. Rounded bullnose edging softens its monumental scale and pays homage to antique European stonework, while also protecting the edges from wear. The carved cabinetry below was chosen to complement the stone’s elegance, creating a classic yet warm focal point where family and guests naturally gather.
Every detail in this kitchen was deliberate, especially the use of thick marble slabs throughout. Our team at Ancient Surfaces chose a honed finish across all surfaces to maintain a soft matte glow, allowing the natural stone to age gracefully and acquire depth over time. The finish is tactile and authentic, offering a lived-in elegance that feels anything but artificial. Above the range, a stately, dark wood kitchen hood floats like a crown over the cooking area. While not made of stone, it is cradled by a custom limestone backsplash crafted from our reclaimed stone, which lends both texture and warmth to the space. This subtle architectural gesture anchors the hood, letting its ornate carvings and deep finish shine without overwhelming the space. The tones in the limestone complement both the cabinetry and the marble, creating an elegant bridge between materials.

The reclaimed limestone flooring, sourced and installed by Ancient Surfaces, ties the entire design into a cohesive story.
