Farmhouse Living. In Pursuit of my Rural French Piece of Heaven!

When I first set eyes on the run down, neglected house I now call home, I never ever imagined that so many years later, I would still be working on it!

It was a chilly day in February, sleet fell making everything look rather drab and bedraggled, I’d ended up looking at a few houses just for something to do before going back to London after a day trip to buy wine in Calais. And in a bizarre twist of fate, I’d fallen head over heels for one of them and bought it! It was very cheap, needed heaps of work “a money pit”. But, there was something about it that pulled at my heart strings.

5 years later it’s pulled at my purse strings too I can tell you. But, it looks nothing like it did inside out. It’s been worth the hard slog. And its been a true adventure, challenging at times yet so worth the every sweat drop, time and dollar spent during the process. So many friends wanted me to be more generous with photos. In this blog, I decided to update them (and you now) on my 5 years long pet project. Hope you’ll enjoy my humble adobe in with love to hear your comments and shared thoughts.

I was so blessed to have an incredible team working with every step of the way, fixing my errors as we progressed!

Even after helping clients for roughly 20 years in supplying them with bespoke limestone elements nothing could have prepared me for the ton of learning and trial by fire that was awaiting me. From Septic tank rebuild to heating and plumbing overhaul…

Salvaged wood, stone, marble, glass, furniture, fixtures, mirrors and more.  It’s been mostly fun and not so fun at times but hey you know what they say, no guts no glory right?

Needless to say I’ve learned a lot and we’re still learning. Oh and yes, I’d do it all again at the drop of a hat!
